NOTE:  This pair has a mismatched design pattern (one earring has the leather on the top,  the other has the leather at the bottom).

Inspired by the prolific inventor Mary Beatrice Davidson Kenner, these handcrafted earrings celebrate a legacy of ingenuity and a "bright, bold, and modern" aesthetic. Much like Kenner herself—who balanced her work as a professional florist with a record-breaking career as an inventor—this design harmonizes structured geometric motifs with organic textures.

These earrings feature the bold contrast of eyecatching leather and handpainted patterns for a multi-dimensional, modern look that is lightweight and designed for the modern trailblazer to wear from day to night.

Mary Beatrice Davidson Kenner was a prolific American inventor and entrepreneur who held more patents than any other African American woman in history. Born in 1912 into a family of creators, her ingenuity ranged from a self-oiling door hinge at age six to the 1957 patent for the sanitary belt, a precursor to modern menstrual products. Despite facing significant racial discrimination that prevented the commercialization of many of her designs, she continued to innovate throughout her life, patenting practical aids like a walker attachment and a mounted back-scrubbing device. Her legacy is defined by a commitment to improving daily life through functional, dignified solutions for all.
